“Acuity Funding Vietnam Director Arrested and Detained”

Police have arrested and detained the Director of Acuity Funding Vietnam for investigation into allegations of providing false information related to multi-billion-dollar loans.

According to CAND, on October 31, Nam Song Hau Petroleum Investment Joint Stock Company (NSH Petro) announced that the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security had issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh (born in 1982) to investigate his alleged provision of false information regarding the ability to offer loans ranging from hundreds of millions to billions of USD to domestic businesses.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh served as the Director of Acuity Funding Vietnam and Deputy General Director in charge of finance at NSH Petro at the time of the alleged misconduct.

On October 15, Mr. Ranjit Prithviraj Thambyrajah, Director of Berhero Pty Limited (operating under the brand Acuity Funding), former Vice Chairman of the Board and CEO of NSH Petro, was arrested on charges of “Fraud to Appropriate Property.”

Both Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh (right) and Mr. Ranjit Prithviraj Thambyrajah have been prosecuted and detained.

Mr. Ranjit allegedly provided false information claiming that Berhero Pty Limited could offer loans of up to billions of USD to Vietnamese partners. Subsequently, he embezzled over 4.9 million USD from fees paid by NSH Petro.

On October 20, the Board of Directors of NSH Petro announced a resolution to remove Mr. Ranjit Prithviraj Thambyrajah from his position as Vice Chairman and CEO.

On the same day, the Board of Directors of NSH Petro announced a resolution to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh based on his resignation request. The Board agreed to appoint Mr. Mai Van Huy, Chairman of the Board and legal representative, to manage the company’s operations until a new CEO is appointed.
