The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) have prioritized this project as an urgent focus, aiming for its completion and power supply by 2025.
EVNNPT serves as the project investor, with the Central Power Projects Management Board overseeing its management and execution. Power Transmission Company 1 will take over operations upon completion.
The 220kV Vung Ang Substation is located in Trai hamlet, Vung Ang ward, Ha Tinh province. By 2030, it’s planned to accommodate 2 transformers with a capacity of 2x250MVA, starting with 1 transformer of 125MVA. The station is designed with three voltage levels: 220kV, 110kV, and 22kV.

The connecting line spans 2×13.4 km, traversing Vung Ang and Song Tri wards in Ha Tinh province.
Construction faced significant challenges, particularly in land clearance and compensation, especially in the Tay Yen residential area of Vung Ang ward.
Under EVNNPT’s decisive leadership, with support from Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, Ha Tinh Police, and local authorities, along with timely union encouragement, the 220kV Vung Ang Substation began operations on September 21, 2025.
Overview of the 220kV Vung Ang Substation and its connecting line.
To maximize project efficiency, the 220kV connecting line must be completed promptly. Construction faced resistance from some residents who obstructed wire installation between poles 06-08, a 600-meter stretch.
With Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee’s guidance, and support from local authorities and police, security forces were deployed to ensure construction, demonstrating the province’s commitment to this key project.

The 220kV Vung Ang Substation and its connection project are vital for powering critical loads in Ha Tinh, especially the Vung Ang Economic Zone, home to key industrial parks and factories. It also frees up capacity for Vung Ang Thermal Power Plant, reduces energy losses, ensures grid safety, and enhances power reliability, supporting socio-economic and political development in Ha Tinh.
