Eight New Bridges to Connect Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City

To strengthen transportation connectivity between the two localities and the Southeast region, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province have agreed to jointly invest in the construction of eight new bridges.

On October 31, the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province announced that to enhance transportation connectivity between the two localities and the Southeast region, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province have agreed to invest in eight bridge and road projects.

The approved bridge construction projects include: Cat Lai, Long Hung (Dong Nai 2 Bridge), Phu My 2, Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, Tan Hien, Tan An, and Xom La.

Among these, the Cat Lai and Long Hung bridge projects are overseen by the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province. Additionally, the Departments of Construction of both localities have agreed on the alignment and investment scale for these projects.

Specifically, the Cat Lai Bridge and its connecting roads will be constructed as a major urban arterial road with a design speed of 80 km/h, featuring a cross-section of 6 motorized vehicle lanes and 2 non-motorized lanes. The total length of the project exceeds 11.6 km, with the Cat Lai Bridge spanning over 3 km.

The Long Hung Bridge and its connecting roads will also be built as a major urban arterial road with a design speed of 80 km/h, featuring a cross-section of 6 motorized vehicle lanes and 2 non-motorized lanes. The total length of the project is nearly 12 km, with the Long Hung Bridge spanning over 2.3 km.

For the Phu My 2 Bridge project, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City is the implementing authority. The project is expected to be developed as a major urban arterial road with a design speed of 80 km/h, featuring a cross-section of 6 motorized vehicle lanes and 2 non-motorized lanes. The total length of the project is nearly 15 km, with the Phu My 2 Bridge spanning nearly 5 km.

Regarding the Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, Tan Hien, Tan An, and Xom La bridge projects, the former People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province and the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province have agreed to study and implement these projects.

Accordingly, the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province will undertake the construction of the Xom La and Tan Hien bridges, while the former People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province will invest in the construction of the Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, and Tan An bridges. Notably, the Prime Minister has approved the Hieu Liem 2 Bridge project for investment by the former People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province.
