Historic Floods Submerge Hoi An, Surpassing 1964 Levels

Several areas in Hoi An and Da Nang City remain severely flooded, with water levels exceeding 1.5 meters. The floodwaters are receding slowly, and there is a risk of further flooding.

On the morning of October 30th, many areas in the ancient town of Hoi An, Da Nang City, remained deeply submerged in floodwaters. Residents reported that around 2-3 a.m. the same day, the water levels surged to unprecedented heights.

Mr. Bui Thanh Son, from An Hoi neighborhood, Hoi An ward, stated that his house was flooded to a depth of approximately 1.7 meters. “This flood is historic, surpassing even the 1964 flood levels,” Mr. Son remarked.

According to Mr. Son, the water level had receded by about 10 cm by morning, but there is a risk that it may rise again in the afternoon and evening.
