Both leaders highly appreciated the positive outcomes of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States in recent years. They agreed to continue close coordination to deepen the bilateral relationship, ensuring it remains substantive, stable, and sustainable, aligned with the interests of both nations. This partnership actively contributes to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and globally.
President Luong Cuong congratulated the United States on its achievements under President Donald Trump’s leadership, commending the President’s role in resolving conflicts and restoring peace in various regions. Vietnam stands ready to serve as a bridge, supporting the search for sustainable solutions to conflicts, in accordance with international law.
To maintain the momentum of stable and effective development, President Luong Cuong proposed that both sides expedite negotiations on a reciprocal trade agreement, based on the recent Joint Declaration. This agreement should be mutually beneficial, consider Vietnam’s specific characteristics, and reflect the importance of the bilateral relationship. He also urged enhanced cooperation in political-diplomatic, economic-trade, science-technology, defense-security, people-to-people exchanges, and war legacy remediation. Vietnam welcomes the United States’ active and responsible contributions in the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.
President Trump affirmed the United States’ commitment to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, acknowledging Vietnam’s growing role and position, as well as its efforts in reform, openness, integration, and economic innovation.
President Trump welcomed Vietnam’s imports of U.S. flagship products. The two leaders also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. The U.S. leader emphasized support for ASEAN’s central role and appreciated Vietnam’s contributions to regional and global affairs.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong extended an invitation from Vietnam’s top leadership to President Trump and his spouse to visit Vietnam soon. President Trump fondly recalled his visits to Vietnam in 2017 and 2019, thanked the Vietnamese leaders for the invitation, and promised to arrange a visit.
During the reception, President Luong Cuong also held brief meetings with the Prime Ministers of Canada, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. The leaders praised Vietnam’s multifaceted development and its increasing international role.
President Luong Cuong and the leaders emphasized the importance of fostering substantive and comprehensive bilateral relations, as well as strengthening coordination and active participation in multilateral mechanisms and forums, including APEC and ASEAN. These efforts aim to contribute to stability, peace, cooperation, and development in the region and beyond.
