Both leaders highly appreciated the positive outcomes of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States in recent years. They agreed to continue close coordination to deepen the bilateral relationship, ensuring it remains substantive, stable, and sustainable, aligned with the interests of both nations. This partnership actively contributes to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and globally.
President Lương Cường congratulated the United States on its achievements under President Donald Trump’s leadership, commending his role in resolving conflicts and restoring peace in various regions. Vietnam stands ready to serve as a bridge, supporting the search for sustainable solutions to conflicts, in accordance with international law.
To maintain steady and effective progress, President Lương Cường proposed expediting negotiations for a reciprocal trade agreement, based on the recent Joint Declaration. This agreement should reflect Vietnam’s unique characteristics and the importance of bilateral relations, while fostering cooperation in political-diplomatic, economic-trade, science-technology, defense-security, cultural exchange, and war legacy resolution areas. Vietnam welcomes the U.S.’s active and responsible contributions in the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.
President Trump emphasized the importance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, acknowledging its growing role and efforts in reform, openness, integration, and economic innovation. He welcomed Vietnam’s imports of U.S. strengths and discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. The U.S. leader affirmed support for ASEAN’s central role and praised Vietnam’s contributions to regional and global matters.
On this occasion, President Lương Cường extended an invitation from Vietnam’s top leadership to President Trump and his spouse for an official visit. President Trump fondly recalled his 2017 and 2019 visits to Vietnam, thanked the Vietnamese leaders for the invitation, and promised to arrange a visit.
During the reception, President Lương Cường also met briefly with the Prime Ministers of Canada, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. The leaders praised Vietnam’s multifaceted development and its increasing international role, affirming the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral forums like APEC and ASEAN. They committed to contributing to regional and global stability, peace, cooperation, and development.
