“These poles require a robust transport axis for seamless operation. The metro-linked underground space will be its foundation,” she explains.

Dr. Phạm Viết Thuận, Director of HCMC’s Institute of Natural Resources and Environment Economics, believes Bến Thành’s underground investment yields significant socio-economic value.
“Integrating static transport, metro, and underground commerce creates seamless human and capital flow—a new urban economic driver,” Dr. Thuận states.
The underground space will link the current core with expanded centers, propelling southern growth. It will serve as a critical bridge between existing and new hubs, radiating development southward.
Coupled with the high-speed rail from Bến Thành to Cần Giờ, this axis will become the urban spine toward the sea, aligning with HCMC’s strategic expansion vision.
