Previously, Dat Rong Real Estate Joint Stock Company (address: 25 Dao Duy Anh, Duc Nhuan Ward) filed a complaint against Truong Ngoc Anh, former Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of the company, alleging misappropriation of corporate assets. Established in 2007, Dat Rong Real Estate LLC was led by Truong Ngoc Anh as its Director and legal representative.
During operations, Anh solicited a total investment of $9.1 million (approximately VND 149 billion) from Mr. P.G.M (Irish national) for two real estate projects, including the Indochine building at 112 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 3. Specifically, Mr. M transferred $4.49 million (VND 72 billion) for this project.
According to the investment contract signed on January 25, 2008, the Indochine building was to be owned by Dat Rong Company, valued at 12,917.7 taels of gold. However, investigations revealed that prior to the contract signing, Truong Ngoc Anh and N.M.H (born in 1964, residing in Tan Dinh Ward) had personally signed purchase agreements with four households within the project area for only 7,917.3 taels of gold.
Of this, Anh paid only 3,000 taels of gold but recorded 4,458 taels in the company’s books, violating the investment agreement and inflating project costs to embezzle the difference.
Notably, in December 2007, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee issued a decision to reclaim the land for the expansion of Le Quy Don High School, compensating the four households with over VND 26.1 billion. Subsequently, the households returned the entire VND 26.1 billion to Truong Ngoc Anh and N.M.H.
However, Truong Ngoc Anh remitted only VND 3 billion to the company and investors, while over VND 10 billion was used for personal purposes, unreported and unaccounted for.
Additionally, during her tenure, Truong Ngoc Anh exploited her authority as the legal representative to withdraw funds from the company’s account, directed falsified entries, and manipulated financial reports to conceal her embezzlement.
Ho Chi Minh City Police are currently expanding their investigation, determining the liability of involved individuals, and recovering assets for the affected investors and company.
Truong Ngoc Anh is renowned for her roles in films such as *Dong tien xuong mau* (Blood Money) and *Ao lua Ha Dong* (The White Silk Dress). She began her acting career at 16 in *Em va Michael Jackson* (You and Michael Jackson) and later won the Miss New Model International 1998 title. Over 30 years, she has ventured into modeling, acting, and singing.
In recent years, she has shifted to film production with works like *Huong Ga*, *Truy Sat*, *Ve si Sai Gon*, and *Sac dep ngan can*. She has also served as a judge at international film festivals and was honored as “Outstanding Asian Actress” at the Seoul International Drama Awards. Truong Ngoc Anh chaired Miss Earth Vietnam 2023.
