Established in 2016, CIMB Bank Vietnam is a subsidiary of Malaysia’s CIMB Group Holdings Berhad. Over nearly a decade, alongside its focus on digital banking strategies, CIMB Vietnam has actively engaged in community initiatives. These include supporting the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, the Livelihood and Clean Water Project, the Charity Bazaar for Mountainous Students, and the UpRace Community Run. Recently, the bank partnered with F88 and the Banking Academy to launch the “Green Knowledge” program, a series of personal financial management training courses tailored for low-income workers.

Green Knowledge is a nationwide, five-year community-focused initiative running from 2025 to 2029, offered entirely free of charge. In the last quarter of 2025, three training sessions will be held in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, and Dak Lak. Targeting informal, migrant, factory, agricultural, and small-business workers, each session is expected to accommodate 150 participants. Designed for those new to personal finance, the program employs practical, concise methods such as hands-on activities, role-playing scenarios, group discussions, and one-on-one coaching.

CIMB Vietnam not only funds the program’s first year but also contributes to curriculum development, leveraging its parent company’s expertise in serving Southeast Asian workers. Ms. Le Hien Trang, Director of Strategy and Communications at CIMB Vietnam, stated, “We believe financial education is the cornerstone of a secure financial future. Empowering individuals to spend wisely and save effectively builds their confidence in using banking services and taking control of their financial lives.”

Unlike many foreign-owned banks, CIMB Vietnam adopted a digital-first strategy from inception, forgoing physical branch expansion. Since 2022, it has partnered with F88 to provide fast, transparent financial services to underserved customers. F88 acts as CIMB’s banking agent, introducing its products to low-income workers, F88’s core demographic.

CIMB Vietnam and F88 collaborate to advance financial inclusion, pioneering digital banking and expanding credit access for underserved customers.

CIMB Vietnam’s digital banking strategy has earned significant recognition, including four awards for digital innovation and sustainability from Global Banking and Finance Review. Additionally, the bank has been honored multiple times as an “Outstanding Workplace” by HR Asia.

Beyond Vietnam, CIMB Group operates in Southeast Asian markets such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia. With over 33,000 employees and 29 million customers, CIMB Group ranks as the fifth-largest financial institution in ASEAN by total assets.
