On October 30, as part of the official visit by General Secretary To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vice Chairwoman of HDBank’s Board of Directors and Chairwoman of Vietjet’s Board of Directors, along with the HDBank leadership team, visited the

London Stock Exchange (LSE).

This is one of the world’s oldest and largest financial centers.

The visit coincided with Vietnam and the UK announcing an upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up extensive cooperation opportunities in finance, investment, and technology.

During the meeting, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao stated: “Vietnam aims to achieve a GDP growth rate of over 10% annually after 2026, with a significant need for long-term capital mobilization.

We hope to expand cooperation with the London capital market through flexible mechanisms such as dual listing, international bond issuance, and other financial instruments to meet the sustainable growth needs of Vietnamese enterprises.”

As the leader of two top-listed companies on HOSE, HDBank and Vietjet, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao shared plans to expand listings for companies within their ecosystem, including consumer finance, securities, aircraft finance, and logistics.

With a return on equity (ROE) of 20-25%, the female billionaire believes that if Vietnamese companies can securitize and list internationally, they will strongly attract global capital and contribute to the vibrancy of the London financial market.

Billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao emphasized:

“We aim to contribute to showcasing a dynamic, integrated, and rapidly developing Vietnam to the world.”

According to initial discussions, HDBank and LSE will consider establishing a cooperation mechanism for international capital advisory and mobilization for Vietnamese enterprises. This includes issuing securities, international bonds, and new investment products.

Notably, on the day of HDBank’s visit to the London Stock Exchange, the FTSE 100 index rose 0.6%, reaching a new peak of 9,750 points. This is considered a fortunate and auspicious sign.

During the meeting, LSE’s leadership expressed appreciation for Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao’s insights and affirmed their readiness to support Vietnamese companies like HDBank, Vietjet, and Vikki Digital Bank in accessing the global capital market, opening effective and attractive funding channels for international investors.

The visit to the London Stock Exchange comes just weeks after billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao’s visit to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). This highlights the global vision and strong integration efforts of Vietnamese enterprises.

The London Stock Exchange currently lists over 1,600 international companies.

It is the world’s leading bond issuance center, with a market size of approximately $34 trillion.

In fact, two major Vietnamese investment funds, VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund (VOF) and Vietnam Enterprise Investments Limited (VEIL), are also listed here.

On October 30, Vietjet and Rolls-Royce signed a contract for 92 Trent 7000 engines, including comprehensive maintenance services worth $3.8 billion. The official signing ceremony took place in the presence of General Secretary To Lam, Vietnamese leaders, and Mr. Matt Western, UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy at the Vietnam-UK High-Level Economic Conference.

On the same day, Vietjet signed a contract to purchase 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft. This order will create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the UK and Europe, while helping Vietjet modernize its fleet, reduce emissions, and expand its international network, aligning with the global Net Zero goal.
