Over the years, Vietnam has consistently made its mark on the global architectural map with structures that excel in both scale and symbolic significance. From the Golden Bridge in Da Nang, which once captivated international media, to Landmark 81—Vietnam’s tallest skyscraper—each project reflects the nation’s creative spirit and its ambitious drive for progress.
Now, Vietnam is set to unveil another international beacon: a 108-story tower in Cần Giờ (Ho Chi Minh City), projected to rank among the world’s top 10 tallest buildings upon completion.

The 108-Story Tower: Vietnam’s New Coastal Icon
According to Decision No. 340/QĐ-UBND issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on January 24, 2025, the Cần Giờ Coastal Tourism Urban Area project has been officially approved with a detailed 1/500 scale plan, spanning over 2,870 hectares. Zone C – Mũi Hải Đăng will house the 108-story tower, envisioned as the centerpiece of the entire development.
As reported by Sài Gòn Giải Phóng and VnExpress, the tower is expected to surpass Landmark 81 by 27 stories. While the developer has not disclosed exact figures, current estimates suggest the tower’s height could range from 500 to 550 meters. If achieved, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the Cần Giờ tower would outrank prominent structures in China and the U.S., including the Shanghai World Financial Center (492 m), One World Trade Center (541 m), and Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre (530 m).
Specifically, a 500-meter height would place it around 11th–12th globally, while 550 meters could elevate it to the #6 position, trailing only Burj Khalifa (Dubai, 828 m), Merdeka 118 (Malaysia, 679 m), Shanghai Tower (632 m), Makkah Royal Clock Tower (601 m), and Ping An Finance Center (599 m).

Beyond its impressive height, the project embodies a vision for sustainable development. As reported by Tiền Phong, the entire coastal urban area, developed by Vingroup with an investment of over 64 trillion VND, aims to become Vietnam’s largest coastal commercial, financial, and tourism hub.
Upon completion, the tower will integrate a commercial podium, premium offices, luxury hotels, an international financial center, and an observation deck, offering unparalleled experiences for domestic and international visitors.
A New Destination in Cần Giờ’s Coastal City
As planned, the Mũi Hải Đăng zone—home to the 108-story tower—will serve as the commercial, service, financial, and maritime hub of the Cần Giờ metropolis. Located 50 km from Ho Chi Minh City’s center, 20 km by sea from Vũng Tàu, and just 12 km from the Cái Mép – Thị Vải international port cluster, the area boasts unique advantages for maritime tourism and logistics.
Once completed, visitors can begin their journey at the tower’s observation deck, offering panoramic views of the East Sea, Cần Giờ’s mangrove forests, and the distant city of Vũng Tàu. Admiring the sunset over the sea from hundreds of meters above will undoubtedly be a rare experience in Vietnam. The tower itself will feature a shopping center, international restaurants, a sky bar, and luxury hotels—ideal for short getaways or elegant dates in the heart of the coastal city.

Beyond the iconic tower, Cần Giờ retains its pristine charm, a rarity among urban destinations. From the tower, visitors can reach the 30/4 Beach in just 15 minutes, where fine sand meets calm blue waters, perfect for swimming, photography, and savoring fresh seafood.
Nature enthusiasts will find the Cần Giờ Mangrove Forest—a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve—unmissable. Here, visitors can explore the forest by canoe, observe wild monkeys on Monkey Island, or visit the Vàm Sát Eco-Tourism Area for kayaking, crocodile fishing, and panoramic views from the 25-meter Tang Bồng Tower.
In the morning, explore the local market to enjoy fresh seafood like grilled peppered shrimp, beer-steamed crabs, garlic stir-fried snails, or claypot braised catfish—signature dishes of Southern Vietnam’s coastal cuisine. In the afternoon, stroll around Lăng Cá Ông, a spiritual landmark, or take a boat to Thạnh An Island, a serene spot with winding seawalls, popular for check-ins among young travelers.
