Introducing the Hyptec GT Lite Edition: GAC’s Latest Electric Coupe

Chinese automaker GAC has officially unveiled its new electric coupe, the Hyptec GT Lite Edition, available in two variants priced between 153,800 and 158,800 Chinese yuan (approximately $21,500–$22,200). The vehicle offers two all-electric range options under the CLTC standard, delivering 560 km and 630 km respectively.

Hyptec GT Lite Edition: Sleek Design Meets Advanced Technology

Positioned as a mid-to-large-sized electric coupe, the Hyptec GT is built on the dedicated AEP3.0 electric platform. The Lite Edition retains the sleek exterior design of its predecessor, featuring a sealed front grille and modern headlights. Notably, the lower bumper incorporates an electrically controlled air vent that adjusts based on speed, reducing drag at high speeds and enhancing cooling efficiency at lower speeds.

Advanced Features for a Smooth and Stable Ride

The Hyptec GT Lite Edition is equipped with the ASTC “Eagle Claw” system and CST braking technology, ensuring a stable and comfortable driving experience. The 630 km range variant further enhances performance with four-piston fixed calipers on the front brakes. Frameless doors and split taillights add a distinctive touch, appealing to younger customers and setting it apart from the prevalent full-width taillight trend.

Dimensions include a length of 4,886 mm, width of 1,885 mm, height of 1,449 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. The interior features a full LCD instrument cluster, a multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel, and a floating central touchscreen, eliminating physical buttons for a minimalist design.

Powered by a single electric motor, the Hyptec GT Lite Edition delivers a maximum output of 180 kW (241 hp) and peak torque of 355 N·m. The two variants offer CLTC-rated ranges of 560 km and 630 km.

Hyptec, rebranded from GAC Aion Hyper, combines “Hyper” (extreme, pinnacle) and “Technology” (science, innovation). The brand focuses on high-performance electric vehicles, blending cutting-edge design with advanced technology.

Founded in 1955 in Guangzhou, GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd) is one of China’s largest automotive conglomerates. The company produces a diverse range of vehicles, from traditional cars and SUVs to electric vehicles, under brands like GAC Motor and HYCET.

In 2024, GAC sold approximately 2,003,058 vehicles, a 20% decline from the previous year, with consolidated revenue of 107.8 billion yuan. However, exports surged by 67.6% to around 127,000 units, reflecting the company’s efforts to expand internationally and develop new energy vehicles.
