To enhance accessibility and convenience for residents, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has approved a project to construct and install elevators at pedestrian overpasses connected to elevated stations on Metro Line No. 1 (Bến Thành – Suối Tiên). The initiative, funded by the city’s budget, boasts a total investment of over 53.4 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) is spearheading a project to install pedestrian overpass elevators along Metro Line 1. The initiative covers seven key stations: Tan Cang, An Phu, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, High-Tech Park, and National University. A total of eight elevators, each with a 1,000 kg capacity, will be deployed to facilitate pedestrian access on both sides of Vo Nguyen Giap Highway (formerly Hanoi Highway).

Strategically positioned on sidewalks or medians adjacent to the highway, these elevators aim to enhance accessibility for all commuters, particularly the elderly, children, pregnant women, and individuals with disabilities, ensuring seamless connectivity to the metro stations.

At Tan Cang Station (Thanh My Tay Ward), one elevator will be installed on the Nguyen Huu Canh Street sidewalk.

An Phu Station (Binh Trung Ward) will feature two elevators on the right side of Metro Line 1 (heading from Thanh My Tay Ward to Tang Nhon Phu Ward). One will be located on the Vo Nguyen Giap Highway median, and the other on the adjacent sidewalk.

Single elevators will be installed on the adjacent sidewalk for the following stations: Rach Chiec (Binh Trung Ward), Phuoc Long (Phuoc Long Ward), Binh Thai (Phuoc Long Ward), High-Tech Park (Tang Nhon Phu Ward), and National University (Tang Nhon Phu Ward).

The project is slated for completion by the end of 2025.
