The Long Thanh International Airport project is one of Vietnam’s most critical national infrastructure developments. Spanning 5,000 hectares with an estimated investment of over $16 billion, it is set to become Vietnam’s largest airport upon completion. Once operational, it will serve up to 100 million passengers and handle 5 million tons of cargo annually.

In Phase 1, the project includes the construction of two runways, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year, a cargo terminal handling 550,000 tons annually, and supporting infrastructure.

Long Thanh Airport is envisioned as a leading international aviation hub in the region, operating as a green and smart airport. It will leverage biometrics, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced technologies to enhance passenger experience and compete with major regional airports.

Given its scale and operational standards, a high-quality workforce is essential. During Phase 1, the airport will require over 13,700 employees across various sectors, including ground services, technical operations, aviation security, administration, commerce, and support services. This workforce will be pivotal in ensuring seamless, modern, and efficient operations.

According to Nguyen Xuan Phong, Head of Long Thanh Airport Operations Preparation, the airport is being built from the ground up. Therefore, constructing facilities and preparing a skilled workforce are critical for future management and operations.

To recruit suitable talent, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has partnered with relevant organizations to host events and campaigns aimed at attracting and hiring personnel for airport operations.

Currently, ACV is recruiting 1,400 professionals in roles such as operations engineers, maintenance technicians, electronics specialists, mechanics, and automation experts. Post-recruitment, the company will provide intensive training to elevate skills and foster a highly professional workforce.

Additionally, airlines and ground service providers are hiring thousands of workers across diverse fields. VietJet’s HR Director noted the airline’s demand for technical staff and ground personnel, including passenger service, equipment maintenance, ground operations, and baggage handling.

However, candidates must meet stringent criteria to qualify for roles at Long Thanh Airport. ACV seeks young, dynamic, and passionate individuals with strong technical expertise and the ability to master cutting-edge technologies.

At Saigon Ground Services (SASCO), fluency in English is mandatory due to its international operational environment. Aviation industry employees must also withstand high-pressure work environments and maintain a strong passion for their roles to overcome challenges.
