On the evening of October 30th, Vinamilk issued a statement regarding the use of the character Mr. Tho in Halloween costumes.

The brand expressed gratitude to its customers, KOLs, and consumers for their support. However, they addressed recent Halloween costume content featuring Mr. Tho—an intellectual property owned by Vinamilk—without permission. The company clarified that these images are unrelated to any official communication and some content misrepresents the brand’s identity.

To protect intellectual property and maintain brand consistency, Vinamilk requests individuals and organizations to cease unauthorized use of Mr. Tho’s image, submit formal collaboration requests if needed, and publicly rectify posted content. Vinamilk emphasizes its willingness to collaborate with well-intentioned parties to promote positive values and sustainable growth.

Vinamilk’s original statement:

Vinamilk extends heartfelt thanks to our valued customers, especially KOLs and consumers, for their enduring love for Mr. Tho condensed milk and the Vinamilk brand.

Recently, we’ve noticed Halloween costume content featuring Mr. Tho—an intellectual property owned by Vinamilk—on social media. We confirm these are not official Vinamilk communications or authorized uses. Some content misaligns with our brand identity.

While we appreciate your creativity and affection for Mr. Tho, we aim to uphold intellectual property rights and brand consistency. We invite collaboration in the following ways:

Discontinue unauthorized use of Mr. Tho’s image. For usage requests, submit formal collaboration proposals for official approval. Publicly rectify posted content on social platforms to respect intellectual property and consumer trust.

Vinamilk is eager to partner with individuals and organizations sharing our values, fostering mutual respect for sustainable growth.

Thank you for your understanding!

Vinamilk’s post garnered support from netizens: “That Mr. Tho cosplay is terrifying,” “Agreed! It ruins the character,” “Tag the creator,” “Brands must protect their identity,” and more.

The issue continues to captivate public attention.
