These days, the atmosphere at Lang Son province’s international border gates buzzes with activity from early morning until late at night. At peak times, over 2,000 import/export vehicles pass through daily. Notably, agricultural product shipments have surged, reflecting a clear recovery in trade activity during the final months of the year.

Over the past 10 months, the total import/export turnover through Lang Son’s border gates reached nearly $74 billion, a 44% increase compared to the same period last year. This marks the highest import/export turnover ever recorded for the province. This achievement stems from the efficient operation of dedicated clearance routes, along with infrastructure improvements and streamlined logistics procedures.

Clearance times have been significantly reduced from 8-10 hours to just 3-4 hours, lowering costs for businesses. Another crucial factor is the synchronized activation of border gate infrastructure: the expansion of the Huu Nghi – Tan Thanh transshipment yard, the implementation of digital technology in management, and the creation of new growth opportunities for import/export activities.

“Recently, import/export volumes through the border gates have increased significantly due to our investments in expanding storage areas and adopting digital technology in management, aiming for sustainable import/export operations in the province,” said Mr. Dinh Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Border Gate Management Center, Dong Dang Border Gate Management Board, Lang Son.

The impressive growth figures and the round-the-clock efforts of border gate personnel demonstrate a commitment to maintaining smooth trade flows. This underscores Lang Son’s role as the most dynamic economic gateway in northern Vietnam, significantly contributing to the nation’s trade growth this year.
