This afternoon (November 5th), the Dong Nai Provincial Police Investigation Agency issued arrest warrants and search warrants for three suspects: Dinh Van Lien (born in 1981) from Long Binh Ward, Dong Nai Province; Nguyen Thi Tuyen (born in 1982) from Tam Hiep Ward, Dong Nai Province; and Nguyen Quoc Vu (born in 1978) from Tan Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. They are under investigation for “Producing and Trading Counterfeit Goods” at EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company. These decisions were approved by the People’s Procuracy of the same level.

News of businessman Nguyen Quoc Vu’s arrest has quickly captured public attention.

Information about the businessman has also been widely searched. Nguyen Quoc Vu is the CEO and legal representative of VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited. According to its business registration, the company’s primary business is wholesale of household goods. Additionally, the company operates in various sectors, including retail trade in other goods conducted on stalls or markets, retail trade on demand via mail order or the Internet, kindergarten education, and high school education.

The company’s headquarters are located in Ho Chi Minh City. At the time of its establishment in 2021, the company’s charter capital was 8 billion VND.

VB Group is also the entity behind the Hanayuki cosmetics brand. The brand’s website features extensive information about Nguyen Quoc Vu and singer Doan Di Bang. Hanayuki specializes in personal care and cosmetic products, such as sanitary napkins, toothpaste, and sunscreen, priced between 200,000 and 600,000 VND.

Aside from VB Group, Nguyen Quoc Vu previously served as the legal representative of VB Universal Trading and Service Company Limited and The World Steak Private Enterprise.

VB Universal Trading and Service Company Limited was established in March 2017 with a charter capital of 9 billion VND. Its primary business is wholesale of household goods. The owner is Pham Thi Thanh Thuy (aka singer Doan Di Bang – born in 1989). Nguyen Quoc Vu was the legal representative and Deputy CEO of VB Universal. However, the company was dissolved in May 2022.

The World Steak Private Enterprise was established in March 2013. Its primary business is restaurants and mobile catering services, with an investment capital of 1.5 billion VND. Nguyen Quoc Vu was also the owner of this enterprise, which has since ceased operations.

Previously, businessman Nguyen Quoc Vu was often portrayed as a devoted husband who showered his wife, singer Doan Di Bang, with extravagant gifts like luxury cars and designer items, as well as lavish trips.

The couple even shared plans to build a 400 billion VND mansion, with a dedicated basement for their luxury car collection.

Why Was Doan Di Bang’s Husband Arrested?

According to the Dong Nai Provincial Police Investigation Agency, Nguyen Quoc Vu, as CEO of VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited, was involved in the sale of 1,652 units of counterfeit Hanayuki Sunscreen Body lotion. The investigation determined that the actions of Dinh Van Lien, Nguyen Thi Tuyen, and Nguyen Quoc Vu constitute the crime of Producing and Trading Counterfeit Goods, as per Article 192 of the 2015 Penal Code.

During the investigation, the three suspects have admitted to their criminal activities. Searches at the scene and related company premises led to the seizure of equipment, machinery, documents, and records related to the production and sale of counterfeit Hanayuki Sunscreen Body lotion.

This case is considered serious and has garnered significant public attention. The Dong Nai Provincial Police Investigation Agency is intensifying efforts to investigate and clarify the responsibilities of involved individuals and organizations, ensuring strict legal action.

The Dong Nai Provincial Police Investigation Agency calls on organizations and individuals who purchased and are currently holding unopened, unused Hanayuki Sunscreen Body products from the following batches: 0010123 (produced on 04/01/2023), 0020623 (produced on 07/06/2023), 0031123 (produced on 16/11/2023), 0010124 (produced on 07/01/2024), 0020424 (produced on 16/04/2024), 0030624 (produced on 25/06/2024), and 0040724 (produced on 13/07/2024), to cooperate by providing these products to the investigation agency for case verification.
