On November 4th, a German court conducted an emergency hearing for a defamation lawsuit filed by Vingroup/VinFast against Le Trung Khoa. The case centers on Khoa’s allegations that Vingroup is a mafia organization and that Vingroup/VinFast attempted to bribe him.
During the proceedings, Le Trung Khoa and his legal counsel failed to provide any evidence or arguments to substantiate these claims.

After careful consideration, the German court issued an injunction prohibiting Le Trung Khoa from posting or allowing the publication of any content related to the claim that “VinFast bribed a journalist” on his personal page or the news site he edits. Violations will result in a fine of up to €250,000 per instance, or imprisonment ranging from 6 months to 2 years for repeat offenses.
Regarding the accusation that Vingroup is a mafia organization—despite the claim being baseless and unsupported by evidence, which Khoa himself could not provide—the court deemed it a “personal opinion” rather than a factual statement.
Yannick Hoppe, attorney at Brost and Classen representing Vingroup, stated that Vingroup rejects this ruling and will file an appeal at the next hearing.
Hoppe emphasized that this case is just the beginning. Vingroup will continue to pursue legal action against Le Trung Khoa in German courts, demanding accountability for defamatory, baseless, and fabricated statements targeting Vingroup, VinFast, and Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong.
Vingroup will also take necessary legal measures to protect its rights and interests against similar future actions by the defendant.
“Regardless of legal complexities, geographical barriers, or the defendant’s attempts to challenge the court’s jurisdiction, we believe such defamation lawsuits are essential. They safeguard not only the lawful rights of businesses and organizations but also uphold the integrity of the legal system. Freedom of speech and press must be exercised within the bounds of the law,” Vingroup’s legal representative affirmed.
Vingroup’s unwavering commitment to pursuing defamation cases demonstrates its zero-tolerance stance against fake news and coordinated smear campaigns. These campaigns systematically target reputable Vietnamese enterprises, particularly influential ones, with the intent to destabilize public opinion and cause harm.
