Trần Sỹ Thanh Appointed as Head of the Central Inspection Commission

The Central Committee has appointed Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, to join the Central Inspection Commission and assume the role of its Chief Inspector.

On the afternoon of November 5th, the Central Committee’s Office issued a press release announcing the opening of the 14th Conference of the 13th Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Hanoi.

Notably, as part of personnel adjustments, the Central Committee agreed to relieve Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Head of the Central Inspection Commission for the 13th term, from his duties in the Central Inspection Commission and as its Head (to focus on new tasks assigned by the Politburo).

The Central Committee also conducted the nomination process for the position of Head of the Central Inspection Commission, to be submitted to the Politburo for consideration and introduction to the Central Executive Committee for election.

Consequently, the Central Committee elected Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Central Committee Member, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, to join the Central Inspection Commission and serve as its Head for the 13th term.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, born in 1971 in Nghe An, holds a Master’s degree in Economics, graduated from the University of Finance and Accounting, and has completed advanced political theory training.

He is a Central Committee Member for the 11th (alternate), 12th, and 13th terms; Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; and a National Assembly Deputy for the 14th and 15th terms.

Mr. Thanh has held various positions, including Deputy Director General of the State Treasury, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, Deputy Secretary of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, Member of the Central Inspection Commission, Secretary of Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Commission, Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, and Deputy Chief of the National Assembly Office.

At the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh was elected as the State Auditor General.

In July 2022, he was reassigned as Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and subsequently elected as Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
