U.S. LNG Exports Hit Record High in October, Solidifying Global Leadership
Preliminary data from financial firm LSEG reveals the United States as the first nation to export over 10 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in a single month. October saw U.S. LNG exports surge to 10.1 million tons, a significant jump from September’s 9.1 million tons.
Maintaining its position as the world’s top LNG exporter, the U.S. continued its momentum in 2025 with four consecutive months of record-breaking output.
LSEG data attributes this growth primarily to two major projects: Venture Global LNG, a Louisiana-based energy company, which launched its Plaquemines export terminal, and Cheniere Energy, the world’s second-largest LNG producer, which expanded capacity at its Corpus Christi facility (Phase 3).
In October, the Plaquemines terminal exported 2.2 million tons of LNG, up from 1.6 million tons in September. Cheniere’s Corpus Christi facility contributed 1.6 million tons, while Sabine Pass exported 2.6 million tons, bringing Cheniere’s total October exports to 4.2 million tons—42% of U.S. exports.
Cheniere CEO Jack Fusco stated that upon completion in 2026, the Corpus Christi Phase 3 project will boost the company’s capacity to over 50 million tons annually. Together with Venture Global, these firms accounted for 72% of U.S. LNG exports in October.
Europe remained the primary market for U.S. LNG, importing 6.9 million tons in October, nearly 69% of total exports. This figure rose sharply from 6.22 million tons in September as the region stockpiled gas ahead of winter, according to LSEG.
Statistics show that U.S. LNG’s share of EU gas imports soared from 27% in 2021 to a record 55% in 2025. If the EU fully replaces Russian gas with U.S. LNG, this share could exceed 80%.
In Asia, U.S. LNG imports increased to 1.96 million tons, up from 1.63 million tons in September. Latin America’s demand fell, with imports dropping to 0.57 million tons from 0.63 million tons as the region approached summer.
In North Africa, Egypt purchased 5 U.S. LNG cargoes totaling 0.43 million tons, slightly down from 0.5 million tons in September. Senegal received 2 cargoes totaling 0.1 million tons, while 2 others remain unsold, per LSEG ship-tracking data.
In October, European gas prices at the Dutch TTF hub averaged $10.88 per million British thermal units (BTU), slightly lower than September’s $11.13. Asian prices averaged $11.11 per BTU under the Japan-Korea Marker (JKM), down from $11.32 in September.
With prices nearly equal across regions, U.S. exporters prioritized Europe due to lower shipping costs and heightened winter energy demand.

Powering Up: Illuminating the 500kV Nhon Trach 4 – Phu My – Nha Be Route
The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Southern Power Projects Management Board (SPMB) successfully energized the 500kV Nhon Trach 4 – Phe My – Nha Be power line project on the evening of December 27, in collaboration with relevant units.
“LNG Power Producer Seeks Direct Access to Consumers, Bypassing EVN”
The LNG-to-power plants aim to sell electricity directly to large industrial consumers, such as factories and industrial parks. With their efficient and reliable power generation capabilities, these plants offer a competitive advantage to energy-intensive industries, ensuring a stable and consistent supply of electricity. By bypassing the traditional utility providers, these plants can offer competitive pricing and tailored energy solutions to their industrial customers, revolutionizing the way energy is consumed and empowering businesses with greater control over their energy costs and sustainability practices.
The Golden Grain Belt: A $2 Billion LNG Plant Investment to Boost Local Economy and Rival the VinFast Factory in Revenue
The Thai Binh LNG Thermal Power Plant project boasts a staggering investment of approximately $2 billion, with an electrical output surpassing that of Vietnam’s largest hydroelectric plant by 1.6 times. Upon completion, the plant is expected to contribute an impressive $4,000 billion VND annually to the state budget.
