Sun Group Pledges to Complete COVID-19 Memorial Site Before Lunar New Year 2026

Sun Group Corporation (Sun Group) has submitted a proposal to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, pledging to sponsor the construction of a green park, community playground, and memorial site for COVID-19 victims, to be completed before the Lunar New Year 2026.

Sun Group has also notified the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee that its subsidiary, Vung Tau Urban Development and Investment LLC, will act as the designated sponsor and undertake the construction of the project.

Previously, the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee issued a document conveying the directives of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Duoc, regarding the implementation of the instructions from the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Tran Luu Quang, during a meeting on the redevelopment plan for the land at 1 Ly Thai To Street, Vuon Lai Ward.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to hand over the land at 1 Ly Thai To Street to the sponsor, Sun Group Corporation, by October 31. The sponsor will then proceed with the construction of the green park, community playground, and COVID-19 memorial site, ensuring completion and readiness for use before the Lunar New Year 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture has been tasked with conducting an inventory, assessment, and classification of the villas on the site by November 10. They will also guide the Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee in preparing adjustments to the local zoning plan at a scale of 1/2,000 for the specified land area.

The Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee is responsible for organizing the preparation, appraisal, and approval of the local zoning plan adjustments at a scale of 1/2,000 for the site, with completion expected by November 30.
