On November 3rd, a delegation from the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee inspected the construction progress at the intersection of the Ca Mau – Dat Mui Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh Highway segment from Nam Can to Dat Mui. The delegation also visited the starting point of the road to Hon Khoai Island, both located in Dat Mui Commune, Ca Mau Province, to encourage the workers on-site.

Ca Mau Province is actively implementing land clearance for various projects as planned, ensuring overall project timelines are met.

The Ca Mau – Dat Mui Expressway has completed land measurement, inventory, and compensation plans within the designated clearance area. Approximately 35.23 hectares of land have been handed over, representing 4.94% of the total.

For the Hon Khoai Island Road Project, the province has received land clearance markers and completed measurements, inventory, and compensation plans. The Provincial Land Development Center will soon submit these plans for approval and issue land reclamation notices as required.

The Hon Khoai Multipurpose Port Project has fully cleared 12 hectares of land, handed over to the investor on October 29, 2025, achieving 100% clearance.

On-site, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, encouraged the construction teams and pledged the province’s commitment to land clearance, working closely with investors and contractors to promptly resolve any issues.

The Provincial People’s Committee has assigned a leader to directly oversee and address emerging issues, ensuring project timelines are adhered to.

Dat Mui Expressway and Vietnam’s Longest Sea-Crossing Bridge to Hon Khoai Island

The Ca Mau – Dat Mui Expressway, the Hon Khoai Island Road, and the Hon Khoai Multipurpose Port were launched on August 19th, with the Ministry of National Defense as the primary investor.

The 81-kilometer Ca Mau – Dat Mui Expressway features four lanes, continuous emergency lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h. It comprises two independent projects: the Ca Mau – Cai Nuoc segment (42 km) and the Cai Nuoc – Dat Mui segment (39 km). A notable feature is a 1,500-meter cable-stayed bridge over the Cua Lon River.

Connecting to the expressway’s endpoint, the Hon Khoai Island Road spans over 18.22 kilometers, including a 17.3-kilometer main bridge and a 0.87-kilometer branch to the island. The road is 17.5 meters wide, with four lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h.

Starting at the Ca Mau – Dat Mui Expressway and Ho Chi Minh Highway in Dat Mui Commune, the road ends at the K10 point on Hon Khoai Island’s eastern shore. Upon completion, it will be Southeast Asia’s longest sea-crossing bridge.

The Hon Khoai Multipurpose Port includes a 1,000-meter berth with a capacity of 20 million tons annually (accommodating ships up to 250,000 DWT), a 5,000-meter navigation channel, and an 800-meter turning basin.

Once completed, the sea-crossing bridge, Hon Khoai Port, and Ca Mau – Dat Mui Expressway will seamlessly connect the North-South axis to the southernmost tip of Vietnam, driving maritime economic growth and enhancing regional defense and security.
