On November 8th, according to local reports, mud crabs tied with nylon ropes in Cà Mau province were purchased by traders at 500,000 VND/kg. Male crabs weighing 300 grams or more (cua y nhất) were priced at 280,000 VND/kg, while smaller males (cua y tứ) were sold for 200,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, mud crabs tied with fabric ropes (which absorb water, increasing their weight) were bought at 450,000 VND/kg, and male crabs at 250,000 VND/kg.

Cà Mau sea crab prices have risen by 20,000 – 70,000 VND/kg (depending on type) compared to previous periods.

Mr. Nguyễn Văn Quận (65 years old, residing in Hưng Mỹ commune, Cà Mau province) shared that sea crab prices have increased by 20,000 – 70,000 VND/kg (depending on type). “With the price hike, farmers are all excited. I sold 6 kg of market-ready crabs to traders, earning over 2 million VND,” Mr. Quận said with a smile.

According to traders, the surge in sea crab prices is due to the upcoming Cà Mau Crab Festival II – 2025. The event will take place from November 16th to 22nd, featuring various exciting programs and activities.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cà Mau province reported that the area has a stable crab farming area of over 250,000 hectares, with an average annual output exceeding 25,000 tons.

In terms of export markets, Cà Mau crabs heavily rely on China, accounting for 70-80% of total exports. Domestically, they are widely consumed in major cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
