Recently, the 10th session of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council (specialized meeting) approved the proposal by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee to invest in the construction of the Cat Lai, Long Hung, and Phu My 2 bridges, spanning the administrative boundaries of Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City. The council also agreed that the projects would be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee will serve as the competent authority for the Phu My 2 Bridge project, with a total investment of approximately VND 16,445 billion. The project is designed as a major urban arterial road with a design speed of 80 km/h, featuring a cross-section of 6 motorized lanes and 2 non-motorized lanes.

The project begins at Nguyen Huu Tho Street (Ho Chi Minh City) and ends at Road 25C (Dong Nai Province). The total length of the route is nearly 15 km, with the Phu My 2 Bridge itself spanning approximately 5 km.

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee is the competent authority for the Phu My 2 Bridge project.

The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee will act as the competent authority for the Cat Lai Bridge project, with a total investment of approximately VND 12,564 billion, and the Long Hung Bridge (Dong Nai 2 Bridge) project, with a total investment of approximately VND 11,758 billion. Both projects are scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2028.

The Cat Lai Bridge starts on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (approximately 400 meters from the My Thuy intersection in Cat Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and connects to the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway (in Dai Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai Province). The total length of the project is approximately 11.37 km, with the main bridge section exceeding 3 km in length and a 6-lane design.

The Long Hung Bridge has a total length of nearly 12 km, including a 2.34 km bridge section. It starts at the Go Cong intersection on Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City and connects to National Highway 51 in Dong Nai Province. The project is designed as a major urban arterial road with a speed limit of 80 km/h, featuring 6 motorized lanes and 2 non-motorized lanes.

Additionally, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council approved the investment in three other connecting bridges between the two localities: Thanh Hoi 2 Bridge, Tan An Bridge, and Tan Hien Bridge.

The Thanh Hoi 2 Bridge, connecting Tan Khanh Ward (Ho Chi Minh City) with Tan Trieu Ward (Dong Nai Province), and the Tan An Bridge, connecting Tan An Commune (Dong Nai Province) with Thuong Tan Commune (Ho Chi Minh City), will be funded by the Ho Chi Minh City budget and implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee during the 2026-2030 period.

The Tan Hien Bridge, linking Thuong Tan Commune (Ho Chi Minh City) with Tan Trieu Ward (Dong Nai Province), will be funded by the Dong Nai Province budget and implemented by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee.

In addition to the bridge projects, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council also approved the investment in Huong Lo 2 Road, from National Highway 51 to the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, with a total investment of nearly VND 5,900 billion.

These transportation projects aim to gradually complete the traffic system in the Southeast region, meeting the travel and cargo transportation needs of both localities and fostering socio-economic development.
