Nguyễn Khắc Thận, Chairman of Hưng Yên Province, Appointed as Secretary of Nghệ An Provincial Party Committee

Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hung Yen Province, has been appointed by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee and Standing Committee, assuming the role of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 20th term, 2025-2030.

On the morning of November 11, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo’s decision regarding personnel changes.

At the conference, Hoang Dang Quang, a member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, announced the Politburo’s decision on personnel matters.

Accordingly, the Politburo decided that Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hung Yen Province, would cease his roles in the Party Executive Committee and Standing Committee, and step down as Deputy Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term. He was then reassigned and appointed to the Party Executive Committee and Standing Committee, assuming the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 20th term, 2025-2030.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Than succeeds his predecessor, Nguyen Duc Trung, who was recently appointed by the Politburo as Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, aged 51, is from Phu Duc commune, Hung Yen Province, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Economic Management.

He has extensive experience working in the former Thai Binh Province, holding various leadership positions such as Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee, and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

In November 2020, he was elected Chairman of the Thai Binh People’s Committee, and four years later, he became Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

In late June 2025, following the merger of Thai Binh and Hung Yen Provinces, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of the newly formed Hung Yen Province.

After the completion of personnel adjustments, the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee consists of Secretary Nguyen Khac Than; Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Committee Le Hong Vinh; Standing Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Hoang Nghia Hieu; and Deputy Secretary, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Vo Thi Minh Sinh.
