In the Southeast region, grade 2 pig prices have dropped by 2,000 VND to 46,000 VND/kg, while grade 1 pigs have decreased by 1,000 VND to 50,000 VND/kg.

The Southwest region has experienced the most significant drop, with grade 2 pigs falling by 3,000 VND to 43,000 VND/kg, and grade 1 pigs declining by 1,000 VND to 48,000 VND/kg.

Pig prices continue to decline

Pig traders attribute the continuous decline in pig prices primarily to the significant reduction in pork consumption due to ongoing heavy rains and storms.

Additionally, in the Mekong Delta region, the sharp drop in pig prices is also linked to the flooding season, which has led to an abundance of affordable fish, causing many consumers to switch from pork to fish as their primary protein source.
