According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in October 2025, Vietnam welcomed 1.73 million international visitors, the highest level ever recorded. This figure represents a 13.8% increase compared to the previous month and a 22.1% rise year-over-year from 2024.

The General Statistics Office reports that China remains the largest source of international tourists to Vietnam, with over 433,000 visitors, accounting for 25% of the total. South Korea follows with more than 360,000 visitors, and Taiwan (China) with over 106,000.

Markets showing growth in October 2025 compared to September include: Switzerland (up 67%), Denmark (up 66%), Thailand (up 58%), Czech Republic (up 56%), France (up 56%), Sweden (up 56%), China (up 20%), and South Korea (up 10%).

Mr. Pham Hai Quynh, Director of the Asian Tourism Development Institute, describes the 1.73 million figure for October as “exceptionally high,” surpassing even peak summer months. He notes that reaching this peak at the start of the international tourism season indicates Vietnam is in its strongest growth phase, remaining a top destination for global travelers.

Overall, the total number of international visitors in the first ten months reached nearly 17.2 million, a 21.5% increase compared to the same period last year. With this growth rate, the tourism industry aims to hit 25 million international visitors in 2025.

The surge in tourist numbers has also boosted industry revenue. In the first ten months, travel services generated an estimated VND 77.4 trillion, up 19.8% year-over-year. Accommodation and food services reached VND 695.1 trillion, a 14.6% increase. Nationally, retail sales and service revenue totaled VND 5,770 trillion, up 9.3%.

Domestic tourism remained stable with approximately 6 million visitors in October, bringing the ten-month total to 125 million.

Cruise tourism is a key strength of Quang Ninh.

Key tourism destinations reported consistent growth in international visitors. Hanoi’s Department of Tourism recorded 2.27 million total visitors in October, including 695,000 international and 1.6 million domestic visitors, up 18% and 5% respectively from 2024. Total tourism revenue reached VND 9,930 billion, a 12% increase.

In the first ten months, Hanoi welcomed over 28.2 million visitors, achieving 91% of its annual target and surpassing the full-year 2024 total of 27.8 million. International visitors neared 6.2 million, with tourism revenue hitting nearly VND 110 trillion, up 22% and 20% respectively.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism reported over 6.5 million international and 33 million domestic visitors in the first ten months of 2025, up 17.7% and generating VND 208,066 billion in revenue, a 22% increase and 72% of the 2025 target (VND 290 trillion).

Quang Ninh Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported 18.43 million visitors in ten months, with revenue of VND 48,362 billion, up 10% in visitors and 21% in revenue year-over-year.

Da Nang recorded 1.3 million overnight stays in October, slightly down from September but up 26% from 2024 (international visitors up 28%). Thua Thien Hue welcomed nearly 5.4 million visitors in ten months, with revenue of VND 10,700 billion (up 60%).

Additionally, a liberal visa policy should be maintained and expanded, especially for high-spending distant markets, to extend stays and encourage repeat visits.
