Qorvo Corporation Seeks Collaboration with Bac Ninh Province

Qorvo Corporation (USA), a global leader in semiconductor technology, specializes in providing cutting-edge solutions for radio frequency (RF) and power management. Their innovations play a pivotal role in today’s interconnected ecosystems.

With a 12-month revenue of $3.7 billion, nearly 8 billion units shipped annually, and a global workforce of 6,200, Qorvo maintains its leadership in technological innovation.

Qorvo’s products are widely applied in mobile devices, wearables, smart vehicles, ADAS systems, telecom networks, data centers, smart homes, industrial IoT, defense, and aerospace.

The company also offers specialized solutions for network infrastructure, including RF power amplifiers, high-performance filters, CATV amplifiers, and battery management systems for energy storage.

Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, and Mr. Gernot Fattinger, Qorvo’s Vice President of Technology, discuss collaboration opportunities.

In Vietnam, Qorvo has launched training programs and R&D initiatives in the semiconductor industry. In Bac Ninh, the company has partnered with Amkor, Luxshare, and Sunshin Technology for chip design and manufacturing.

During a meeting with Bac Ninh’s leadership, Mr. Gernot Fattinger expressed Qorvo’s interest in collaborating on advanced semiconductor ecosystems, supply chain development, technology transfer, and workforce training to drive sustainable growth in the region.

Qorvo also requested Bac Ninh’s support in streamlining investment procedures, expediting visa approvals for experts, and providing tax incentives for high-tech equipment imports.

In response, Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan highlighted Bac Ninh’s plans to establish a concentrated IT park and an intelligent computing center, aiming to become Vietnam’s “Silicon Valley.”

He invited Qorvo to contribute strategies for positioning Bac Ninh as a leading semiconductor hub in Vietnam and encouraged collaboration with local private enterprises to integrate them into Qorvo’s supply chain.

Regarding Qorvo’s proposals, Chairman Tuan pledged Bac Ninh’s full support to create a favorable environment for investors and ensure effective operations.

The Semiconductor Industry’s Prospects in Vietnam

The semiconductor sector is a rapidly growing industry globally. In 2024, its global revenue surpassed $600 billion and is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2030.

In Vietnam, the industry is expected to grow by over 11% annually from 2023 to 2027, reaching a market size of $31 billion by 2027.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized that Vietnam considers semiconductors a strategic technology critical for enhancing competitiveness, driving economic growth, and establishing national prestige.

Vietnam’s advantages include its strategic geopolitical location in Southeast Asia, proximity to major chip manufacturing hubs, and a highly open economy with extensive free trade agreements, facilitating global supply chain shifts and tech investments.

Vietnam has attracted major players like NVIDIA and Intel, becoming a key destination in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

As of November, Vietnam has secured over 170 foreign investment projects in semiconductors, totaling nearly $11.6 billion. These projects focus on chip design and packaging/testing, two critical stages in the semiconductor value chain.

The country hosts approximately 60 design firms, 8 packaging/testing projects, and over 20 companies producing materials and equipment.
