The People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province has recently approved two major transportation projects with a total investment of over VND 5.4 trillion. These projects aim to expand urban spaces, attract investment, and develop new urban areas north of the Cua Luc Bay.

According to the approved plan, the two projects include: The extended coastal road from Tran Quoc Nghien Street, passing through Binh Minh Bridge to Bang Bridge; and the northwest coastal road of Cua Luc Bay, connecting from Troi 2 Bridge through Love Bridge to National Highway 279. Both projects will be funded by the provincial budget and implemented from 2025 to 2028.

The northwest coastal road of Cua Luc Bay spans 8.3 km with a design speed of 60 km/h and a total investment of approximately VND 2.86 trillion. Meanwhile, the extended coastal road from Tran Quoc Nghien to Bang Bridge is over 7 km long, also with a design speed of 60 km/h, and a total investment of VND 2.618 trillion. The Project Management Unit for Construction Investment in Area 1 has signed a consulting contract and is conducting surveys and project preparation.

Provincial leaders stated that upon completion, the two new coastal roads will not only enhance the transportation infrastructure but also elevate the landscape value and expand urban development spaces. This is considered a concrete step in implementing the regional planning approved by the Prime Minister.

Previously, Quang Ninh inaugurated the Ha Long – Cam Pha coastal road, nearly 20 km long with a 6-lane scale, recognized as one of the most beautiful coastal routes in the country, connecting Ha Long Bay with Bai Tu Long Bay. Along with the two new upcoming projects, Quang Ninh’s coastal infrastructure is gradually forming an interconnected network, shaping a new look for the province’s central area.

According to the old Ha Long City master plan until 2030, the area from the Ha Long – Van Don expressway down to Cua Luc Bay covers a total area of 8,882 hectares, with approximately 2,494 hectares designated for urban development investment. Cua Luc Bay currently has an area of nearly 20 km², where six major rivers from the Thien Son mountain range meet the sea.

Quang Ninh is often referred to as a “miniature Vietnam” due to its diverse topography, encompassing typical landscapes of the country such as hills, plains, coastal areas, islands, and border regions. The province also boasts a full range of economic sectors and cultural forms, from agriculture, industry to services, along with numerous historical and cultural sites.

Additionally, Quang Ninh aims to improve the quality of life for its residents, ensure national defense and security, and proactively expand foreign relations. The province has also set a strategic goal of becoming a centrally-governed city before 2030, striving to develop a regionally and internationally significant urban area by 2045.
