Limo Green Outpaces Xpander by 1.5 Times and Veloz by 5 Times in Sales
According to VinFast’s October 2025 sales report, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer delivered a total of 20,380 electric vehicles across various models. Notably, the 7-seater MPV Limo Green alone accounted for 4,160 units delivered to customers.
Limo Green outsells Xpander by 1.5 times in October 2025.
This figure significantly surpasses its key competitors in the same segment: Mitsubishi Xpander (2,644 units) and Toyota Veloz Cross (817 units). The rapid surge of Limo Green has raised concerns for established players dominating the affordable MPV segment.
For years, the 7-seater MPV market in Vietnam has been predominantly ruled by Japanese models. Mitsubishi Xpander has consistently led in sales, peaking at over 3,000 units in a single month, following the legacy of the iconic Innova. While other contenders like Hyundai Stargazer, Kia Carens (often marketed as an SUV), and Honda BR-V have entered the fray, none have managed to challenge Xpander’s dominance.
Toyota Veloz, Xpander’s compatriot, is also a favored choice among taxi drivers and large families, thanks to its premium features and advanced technology.
However, the landscape may be shifting with the arrival of Limo Green, Vietnam’s first domestically produced electric MPV. Its impressive sales of 4,160 units in a single month not only mark a milestone for VinFast but also pose a significant challenge to all competitors in the MPV segment.
Is the Wind Shifting Direction?
While the high sales in October are impressive, it’s important to approach these numbers cautiously. The surge could be attributed to accumulated orders from previous months or bulk purchases by transportation companies and ride-hailing services, which are increasingly transitioning to electric vehicles to reduce fuel costs and leverage government incentives.
Undeniably, Limo Green has captured significant attention. However, determining whether it truly threatens Xpander and Veloz’s dominance requires more time. Sales performance in the coming months, after pre-orders are fulfilled, will provide a clearer picture of its long-term appeal.
Mitsubishi Xpander, meanwhile, maintains its steady performance with 2,644 units sold in October. Despite losing the top spot, Xpander remains a favorite among families for its reliability, ease of maintenance, and strong resale value.
Is Xpander’s MPV throne under threat?
The question arises: Is the MPV market shifting its focus? Consumers, once primarily concerned with practicality and fuel efficiency, are now increasingly considering technological advancements and environmental sustainability.
Regardless, October 2025 marks a pivotal moment in Vietnam’s automotive market, where a domestically produced electric MPV has outperformed long-standing Japanese brands renowned for their durability. If this trend persists beyond a short-term surge, Xpander and Veloz may have legitimate reason to be concerned.
