Recently, the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province submitted a proposal to the Provincial People’s Council regarding the implementation plan for the Cat Lai Bridge project, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai. The project, with a total investment of over 20 trillion VND, is expected to commence in 2026 and be completed by 2028 under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Cat Lai Bridge spans nearly 12 kilometers, with the main bridge section stretching 3 kilometers, featuring 8 lanes, a clearance of 55 meters, and a design speed of 80 km/h. It starts at Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (Cat Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and ends at the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway (Dai Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai).

Notably, this bridge is a critical link on the East-Northeast axis of Ho Chi Minh City, reducing travel time from the city center to Long Thanh Airport to just 25–30 minutes, especially as the airport is set to open in mid-2026.

Beyond ending over a decade of reliance on ferries, Cat Lai Bridge is seen as the key to unlocking the development potential of Nhon Trach, Dong Nai’s eastern industrial hub. It also revitalizes the riverside urban chain in the East, particularly the long-stagnant Dai Phuoc area due to poor infrastructure connectivity.

Cat Lai Bridge connects to Dai Phuoc Commune, home to major projects like SwanBay, Swan Park, Elyse Island (formerly Paragon Dai Phuoc), and Eco Village Saigon River, all witnessing a market resurgence.

For instance, the SwanBay Dai Phuoc urban area by SwanCity (Singapore), spanning 464 hectares, offers 1,700 products including apartments, townhouses, and riverside villas. Current prices range from 70 to 125 million VND/m². Photo: Nguyen Tai

Similarly, Eco Village Saigon River by Ecopark Group (over 55 hectares) across the river is priced between 95.8 and 177 million VND/m², depending on location and product type. Photo: KTTBĐS

According to a local agent: “News of Cat Lai Bridge’s imminent construction is heating up the market. A 3-bedroom villa, 9x21m, is now priced at 19 billion VND, slightly higher than earlier this year.” Photo: KTTBĐS

Upon completion, this route, along with the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and Ring Road 3, will form a strategic traffic triangle, opening an urban-industrial-logistics corridor between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, while easing congestion on National Highway 51 and Dong Nai Bridge.

On the Dong Nai side, Cat Lai Bridge will connect to Ly Thai To Street (Dai Phuoc Commune).

The connecting road from the bridge to the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway is awaiting land clearance completion for construction.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, connecting to the bridge’s starting point, is being upgraded to 6 lanes for infrastructure synchronization.

Additionally, the Nhon Trach Bridge on Ring Road 3 partially opened in August 2025. Once fully completed, it will join Cat Lai Bridge to create a seamless connection network between Ho Chi Minh City, Nhon Trach, and Long Thanh. Photo: Nguyen Kiet.
