Honda’s car sales dip in October.
According to reports from the Japanese automaker, Honda Vietnam’s automotive division experienced a slight decline. In October 2025, the company sold 3,314 vehicles, an 8.1% decrease compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date sales for the fiscal year 2025–2026 reached 15,059 units, 0.5% lower than the previous year.
In contrast, the motorcycle segment saw growth, with Honda Vietnam selling 188,036 units in October 2025, a 2.8% increase year-over-year. Cumulative sales from the start of the fiscal year 2025–2026, beginning in April 2025, exceeded 1.2 million units, reflecting a modest 0.2% rise compared to the same period last year.
This performance highlights stable consumer demand in the motorcycle segment, particularly as the market recovers from a prolonged slowdown.
Motorcycle models maintain their growth momentum.
The decline in Honda’s car sales compared to 2024 is understandable, given the intensifying competition in the SUV and mid-range sedan segments.
New brands, particularly those specializing in electric and hybrid vehicles, are rapidly expanding in Vietnam. Affordable models like the Jaecoo J7 AWD and BYD Seal 5 are continuously launched, challenging Honda’s pricing. Even the new-generation KIA Sorento, positioned in the D-segment SUV category, offers versions priced comparably to the CR-V.
Beyond the domestic market, Honda Vietnam exported 19,854 motorcycles in October, reinforcing its role as a key production and export hub in the region.
October’s sales results demonstrate Honda Vietnam’s continued leadership in motorcycles, while highlighting challenges in the automotive sector, where shifting consumer preferences and electrification trends are reshaping the market.
