Vietnam’s automobile market is experiencing robust growth as the year-end approaches.

Of the 37,910 vehicles sold, 27,246 were passenger cars, 10,162 were commercial vehicles, and 502 were special-purpose vehicles. Compared to the previous month, passenger car sales increased by 33%, commercial vehicle sales rose by 6.6%, and special-purpose vehicle sales decreased by 15%.

Domestically assembled vehicle sales reached 17,129 units, a 19% increase from the previous month, while completely built-up (CBU) imported vehicles totaled 20,781 units, a 28% rise.

For the first ten months of 2025, overall market sales grew by 9.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Specifically, passenger car sales increased by 2%, commercial vehicle sales by 31%, and special-purpose vehicle sales by 76% year-over-year.

SUVs continue to dominate, with 8,901 units sold. Sedans, however, saw a decline, selling only 4,132 units, reflecting a shift in consumer preference from low-clearance to high-clearance vehicles (SUVs).

MPVs recorded 6,216 sales, with the Innova Cross and Avanza Premio significantly contributing to the segment’s performance due to competitive pricing and stable import supply.

Automakers will continue to launch attractive promotions to entice customers.

Hybrid vehicles maintained their growth trajectory, with a 58% increase over the ten-month period. However, the 1,397 units sold in the latest month showed no significant growth. Nonetheless, this segment remains the primary beneficiary of the market’s shift toward fuel-efficient solutions.

Among individual brands, Toyota retained its leadership across multiple key segments. SUVs like the Fortuner and Corolla Cross saw steady demand, while the Vios, once the best-selling sedan, faced tougher competition.

Kia also achieved strong results, thanks to its lineup of SUVs and MPVs, including the Sorento, Sportage, and Carnival. Mazda maintained its dominance in the crossover segment with the CX-5 and CX-3 models.

As the year-end approaches, automakers are expected to roll out more incentives to boost sales, and the supply of imported vehicles is likely to increase. Consequently, the automotive market is poised for a year-end sales surge.
