Recently, GSM and VinBus have launched the School Bus – a specialized “Electric School Bus Service,” utilizing the VinFast EB 6 electric bus model.
This service is introduced as the first of its kind in Vietnam, employing “the only passenger transport vehicle line nationwide that fully meets the technical and safety standards for student transportation as per the 2024 Road Traffic Order and Safety Law, equipped with specially designed amenities.”
VinFast EB 6 is used as a dedicated student transport vehicle.
The announcement from both entities states that the service will initially operate within the Vinschool system in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; starting from the next academic year, it will expand to other private and international schools nationwide.
An interesting feature is that the School Bus is integrated with the Xanh SM app, allowing parents to track the vehicle’s route, real-time pick-up and drop-off status, and enabling users to book the service.

Technology is a key strength of the vehicle used for this service. The VinFast EB 6 model features a green lower body similar to other VinBus vehicles, but the roof is painted in a deep yellow. The yellow color not only distinguishes it but also complies with the latest regulations for student transport vehicles in Vietnam.
Beyond this detail, the VinFast EB 6 model is equipped with an air quality filter and sensor; a Secure to Safe (S2S) monitoring system, including cameras at the entry/exit doors and in-vehicle surveillance cameras; GPS technology for vehicle tracking; Face ID attendance technology, and a post-trip cabin inspection process to ensure no student is left behind.
Notably, to ensure the safety of the vehicle and passengers, all journey data is encrypted and securely transmitted to the school and operations team.
For the passenger version, the vehicle has 9 pairs of seats and 1 single seat at the front, totaling 19 passenger seats.
In previous announcements, VinFast stated that the EB 6 model, in both passenger and student transport versions, has 19 seats – excluding the driver. The seating layout includes 18 forward-facing seats and 1 single seat at the front. The student transport version is also equipped with a driver monitoring camera, a first-aid storage compartment, and a standard TV.
The VinFast EB 6 is actually the smallest bus model in the company’s lineup. It is powered by an electric motor with 188 horsepower and a maximum torque of 420 Nm, capable of reaching a top speed of 90 km/h. With a 1779.5 kWh LFP battery pack, the vehicle can travel over 250 km on a single charge. It can be fast-charged from 20% to 80% in 70 minutes using a 120 kW DC fast charger.
The vehicle is equipped with advanced technologies, ensuring safety for student transportation purposes.
According to the latest regulations in the Road Traffic Order and Safety Law, vehicles transporting kindergarten children and students must meet the following requirements:
General Regulations
– Vehicles must be registered and bear license plates, ensuring technical safety and environmental protection standards.
– Vehicles with 8 or more seats (excluding the driver’s seat) must be equipped with a journey monitoring device and a camera recording the driver.
– Vehicles must have: A device for recording students or kindergarten children, and a warning device to prevent children from being left behind.
– The vehicle’s age must not exceed 20 years.
– Vehicles must be painted according to government regulations.
– Vehicles transporting kindergarten children or primary school students must have seat belts or age-appropriate seats.
For Vehicles Specifically Designed for Student and Kindergarten Transportation
– The vehicle body must be painted in a deep yellow color.
– The front and both sides above the windows must display a sign indicating that the vehicle is for student or kindergarten transportation.
For Commercial Transport Vehicles Also Used for Student Transportation
– Must comply with all requirements of the Road Traffic Order and Safety Law.
– Not required to be painted in deep yellow, but must display a sign indicating student transportation on the front and both sides above the windows.
– Must be equipped with a camera recording the driver, a camera recording children, and a device to warn against leaving students behind.
Student Safety
– Children under 10 years old and shorter than 1.35 m must not sit in the same row as the driver, unless the vehicle has only one row of seats.
– The driver must instruct students on the use of seat belts or appropriate seats.
