At the October 2025 Ministry of Construction’s monthly briefing, the Minister emphasized the urgent need to commence the expansion of the HCMC – Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway by December 19th. This high-profile project is spearheaded by a consortium comprising Deo Ca Group JSC, HCMC Infrastructure Investment JSC, Tasco JSC, Hoang Long Construction and Investment Corporation, and CII Service and Investment Company Limited.
The total investment for the HCMC – Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway expansion project has been revised to over VND 41,372 billion, reflecting an increase of approximately VND 1,572 billion from the initial estimate.

Spanning a total length of 96.13 km, the expressway will connect Cho Dem Junction in HCMC to the northern end of the My Thuan 2 Bridge in Dong Thap Province. The HCMC – Trung Luong segment will be expanded from 4 to 8 lanes, with a road width of 41 meters and a design speed of 120 km/h.
Future plans include further upgrades: the Cho Dem – Ring Road 4 section will feature 12 lanes (56-meter-wide road), while the Ring Road 4 – Trung Luong section will have 10 lanes (48.5-meter-wide road).
The Trung Luong – My Thuan segment will be widened from 4 restricted lanes to 6 lanes, with a road width of 32.25 meters and a design speed of 100 km/h. The project also includes the development of intelligent transportation systems, toll stations, rest stops, and other facilities to ensure seamless operations in line with current standards.
The project requires approximately 1,045.55 hectares of land, of which 949.71 hectares have already been cleared. An additional 95.84 hectares need to be acquired, distributed across HCMC (6.37 hectares), Long An Province (60.84 hectares), and Tien Giang Province (28.63 hectares).
Upon completion, the project will significantly alleviate traffic congestion, particularly during holidays and festivals. It will also reduce travel time, lower logistics costs, and enhance connectivity between the Southern Key Economic Region and the Mekong Delta, fostering trade, tourism, and investment across the region.
