On November 13th, numerous police officers were present at the Mailisa Beauty Clinic located at 6 Nguyen Khanh Toan Street, Nghia Do Ward, Hanoi, for an official inspection. Similar operations were conducted simultaneously at various Mailisa branches across Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, Nghe An, and Dak Lak.
In Ho Chi Minh City, after completing the inspection at the headquarters at 86-88-92 Huynh Van Banh Street, Phu Nhuan District, VTV reported that approximately 100 officers proceeded to the private residence of Mailisa’s owner in Thoi An Residential Area, District 12.
Previously, on November 11th, Ms. Phan Thi Mai (also known as Mailisa), the founder of the Mailisa Beauty Clinic chain, hosted a live stream on her personal fan page to address the company’s operations. During the session, she emphasized the company’s compliance with tax obligations.
“Mailisa is arguably the highest tax-paying beauty clinic chain in Vietnam, contributing nearly 200 billion VND annually, and this has been consistent. Unlike some businesses that only rectify issues when authorities conduct stringent inspections, we ensure transparency by issuing red invoices daily and maintaining meticulous financial records. Each month, we pay approximately 20 billion VND in taxes, fully meeting our obligations,” Ms. Mai stated.
She also addressed rumors circulating about Mailisa, labeling them as unfair competition tactics. Ms. Mai firmly denied allegations of money laundering or producing unauthorized cosmetic mixtures: “If there are any violations, let the law handle them. Do not spread misinformation.”
Additionally, Ms. Mai clarified that all 17 branches are legally registered under her name and her husband, Mr. Hoang Kim Khanh, dismissing claims that employees or relatives were used as nominal owners.
“As a leader, I take full legal and ethical responsibility for every customer. Using others as front owners would be a grave mistake,” she added during the live stream.

“Deputy Director of the Tax Department: The More Transparent and Open Businesses Are, the Less Likely They Are to Face Administrative Violations”
Mr. Mai Sơn, Deputy Director of the Tax Department, emphasizes: “The more transparent and compliant business households are, the less likely they are to face administrative violations. With proper collaboration with tax authorities, those who adhere to regulations will not be subject to inspections. In practice, audits are only conducted when there is a perceived risk.”
