According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the global petroleum market during this adjustment period has been influenced by key factors such as: OPEC+ agreeing to slightly increase oil production in December and temporarily halting production increases in Q1/2026; U.S. sanctions on Russian oil; and the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These factors have led to fluctuating global petroleum prices, varying by product.
The average global price of petroleum products between the price adjustment periods of November 6 and November 13 was 79.8 USD/barrel for RON92 gasoline (up 0.8 USD/barrel) and 82.5 USD/barrel for RON95 gasoline (up 0.7 USD/barrel).
According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam imported a substantial amount of petroleum products in the first 10 months of this year, primarily diesel and gasoline, with a significant increase in import value compared to the same period last year. Diesel imports totaled 4.92 million tons, accounting for 56% of total petroleum imports, while gasoline imports reached 1.78 million tons, making up 20%.
Key suppliers of petroleum products to Vietnam include South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and China, with notable increases from South Korea and Singapore.
