Mr. Do Cao Bao, a board member of FPT Corporation, shared a heartfelt story on his personal Facebook page during the 20th-anniversary celebration of FPT Software in Tokyo on November 13th.
During the event, Mr. Truong Gia Binh expressed his gratitude to over 400 Japanese clients at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel’s grand hall, crediting them with the revival of FPT Software.
“I was given a $1 million budget for global expansion. We lost money in Silicon Valley and Bangalore without securing any contracts. Just as our funds were nearly depleted, Japan offered us our first contract, breathing new life into FPT Software,” Mr. Binh recounted.
He extended his thanks to Japanese partners and clients for their early support in Japan, guidance in meeting international software standards, and unwavering trust over the past two decades. This support has made FPT Japan a cornerstone of FPT’s global operations.
Mr. Binh also highlighted that FPT’s success in software exports led to the establishment of FPT University, now a renowned institution in Vietnam.

(20th-anniversary celebration of FPT Software in Tokyo, November 13th)
FPT Software, established in 1999, is a software export subsidiary of FPT Corporation.
After FPT’s failed “quick riches” venture in Silicon Valley, the company shifted focus to Japan.
In 2000, FPT secured its first Japanese contract, marking the beginning of a collaborative era between the two nations.
By 2004, FPT Software’s Japan office was established, officially opening on November 13, 2005. On January 1, 2007, FPT Software Japan became an independent Japanese company, capable of negotiating and executing projects like any local firm.
With nearly two decades in Japan, FPT has grown into one of the largest foreign-invested tech companies in Japan, serving over 450 global clients.
FPT surpassed $500 million in IT service revenue from Japan in 2024 and aims to reach $1 billion, targeting a top-15 position among influential IT companies in Japan by 2027.
