Haeco and Sun Group Launch $360 Million Aircraft Maintenance Complex in Van Don

On the afternoon of November 17th, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Hòa Bình received Mr. Richard Sell, CEO of Haeco Group, to discuss a $360 million investment project. This ambitious venture aims to establish a state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance complex at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province.

Haeco Group, a member of the UK-based Swire Group, is a global leader in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. The company specializes in airframe, engine, component services, and aviation technical training.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, Haeco operates across the Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe, serving global airlines and manufacturers. The group comprises 16 subsidiaries, 28 aircraft hangars, and a workforce of over 16,000 employees, catering to more than 300 airlines.

A $360 Million Project in Van Don

According to the Government News, Mr. Richard Sell announced that Haeco Group, Sun Group, and partners plan to invest $360 million in building an aircraft maintenance complex at Van Don International Airport, Quang Ninh. Recently, the group signed a 15-year contract with a U.S. partner for aircraft maintenance and repair at this facility, opening new opportunities for collaboration with Vietnamese and international partners.

To facilitate cooperation, Mr. Richard Sell requested the Vietnamese Government, ministries, and local authorities to provide support, particularly in tax incentives, land leasing, visa policies, housing for experts, and labor supply.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh welcomed Mr. Richard Sell’s visit, acknowledging his commitment to fostering investment and cooperation. He emphasized Vietnam’s support for foreign investors in high-tech sectors, stating, “All high-tech industries in Vietnam receive priority and incentives, including aircraft maintenance.”

Regarding housing for experts, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that Quang Ninh Province and Sun Group have developed residential projects to accommodate foreign specialists working in Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged Haeco Group to complete investment procedures in Van Don and encouraged the group to train and employ local talent, as Vietnamese workers are capable of handling high-tech tasks.

Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh also encouraged Mr. Richard Sell to continue promoting investment in areas where the group excels and Vietnam has demand.

He assured that the Vietnamese Government is committed to providing the best conditions for Swire Group and its subsidiaries, including Haeco, to invest and operate effectively in Vietnam.
