Recently, a bakery in Ba Dinh, Hanoi, received approximately 2,000 orders for Napoleon cakes, sparking significant attention on social media. The massive order volume and the cake’s flavor quickly became a hot topic online after a customer shared their experience.
The Napoleon cake at this bakery is priced at 85,000 VND per 170g portion. This French pastry is renowned for its multiple layers of puff pastry alternating with custard cream, often topped with powdered sugar or fresh cream. Traditionally, the cake has a soft texture, but the bakery accommodates customer preferences, offering both crispy and soft versions.

According to a post, one customer received order number 1,330 and was informed by the bakery owner that the cake would take 15 to 20 days due to overwhelming demand. The owner also mentioned that the cake is soft, not crispy, and after tasting it, the customer described the flavor as ordinary, falling short of expectations.

They attributed the disappointment to the “FOMO” effect, where customers place orders with high expectations, only to be let down. The owner explained that the cakes are handmade daily, with no freezing at any stage, resulting in a longer production time.
