The Vietnamese automotive market entered Q4/2025 with a notable growth surge. According to consolidated data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), TC Group, and VinFast, VAMA members’ sales in October reached 37,910 units, a 24% increase compared to September. VinFast alone delivered 20,380 electric vehicles to customers, becoming the first Vietnamese brand to sell over 20,000 units in a single month.
The top 10 best-selling car models in October showcased the dominance of electric vehicles in the leading positions. VinFast claimed the top four spots with the VF 3 (4,619 units), VF 5 (4,450 units), Limo Green (4,160 units), and Herio Green (2,920 units).
The fifth position went to the Mitsubishi Xpander with 2,644 units sold. Notably, among the top 5 best-selling models, four were VinFast electric vehicles, and only one, the Xpander, was a gasoline-powered car.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is the only gasoline-powered car in the top 5 best-selling vehicles in October.
This composition reflects the rapid shift towards electric vehicles in the mass market segment and highlights the growing competitive pressure on traditional gasoline and diesel models.
However, the Mitsubishi Xpander’s presence in the top 5 overall market rankings demonstrates that the 7-seater MPV still meets a specific demand among Vietnamese consumers.
The Mitsubishi Xpander belongs to the compact MPV segment (B-segment MPV), featuring a 1.5L gasoline engine, front-wheel drive, and a 3-row, 7-seat configuration.
With a ground clearance of 205 mm, the Xpander is well-suited for urban and provincial road conditions, catering to the needs of those requiring ample passenger and luggage space without a bulky vehicle. Current versions are priced between approximately 560 million and 699 million VND, ranging from manual to automatic, Premium, and Cross variants.

MPV market reports indicate that the Xpander’s advantage lies in its design, which appeals to the majority of Vietnamese customers, and its well-equipped features at an accessible price point.
The 3-row interior, flexible folding seats, and more spacious cabin compared to A-segment or B-segment sedans make the Xpander a natural upgrade choice for families seeking a larger vehicle or needing to transport multiple generations simultaneously.
Mitsubishi Xpander received significant promotions in October.
In addition to the product’s inherent appeal, October’s sales policies played a crucial role. Since mid-Q4/2025, many Vietnamese automakers have intensified registration fee incentives, particularly for compact MPVs.
For the Xpander, Mitsubishi offered registration fee support across all variants. The MT version’s support increased from 50% to 100% of the registration fee, equivalent to a 56 million VND discount, bringing the actual selling price below 500 million VND—the most attractive offer to date.
Furthermore, this variant included complimentary physical insurance worth 8 million VND and a reverse camera valued at 2.5 million VND.
