This afternoon (November 17th), at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh received Mr. Richard Sell, CEO of Haeco Group.
Haeco Group, headquartered in Hong Kong, is a member of the Swire Group—a UK-based conglomerate. Haeco is a global leader in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), offering services for airframes, engines, components, and aviation technical training.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh welcomed Mr. Richard Sell’s visit to Vietnam, appreciating his ideas and goodwill to expand investment and cooperation activities in the country.
Mr. Richard Sell announced that Haeco Group, in partnership with Sun Group and other stakeholders, plans to invest $360 million in an aircraft maintenance complex at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province.
Recently, the Group signed a 15-year contract with a U.S. partner to service their aircraft at the Van Don facility. This agreement opens significant cooperation opportunities between Haeco and Vietnamese partners, as well as other international stakeholders.
To facilitate these initiatives, Mr. Richard Sell requested the Vietnamese Government, ministries, and local authorities to provide support, particularly in tax incentives, land leasing, visa policies, housing for experts, labor regulations, and workforce development.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that Vietnam consistently encourages foreign investment in high-tech sectors. Aircraft maintenance, as a high-tech industry, will receive priority and incentives.
Quang Ninh Province and Sun Group have already developed housing projects to accommodate experts working in Vietnam.
In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister urged Haeco Group to finalize investment procedures in Van Don. He also encouraged the Group to train and employ local talent, as Vietnamese workers are fully capable of handling high-tech tasks.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister requested Mr. Richard Sell to explore further investment opportunities in areas where Haeco excels and Vietnam has demand.
He reaffirmed that the Vietnamese Government is committed to providing optimal conditions for Swire Group and its subsidiaries, including Haeco, to invest and operate sustainably in Vietnam.
Haeco operates across the Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe, serving global airlines and manufacturers through 16 subsidiaries, 28 hangars, and a workforce of over 16,000 employees.
