On November 17, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) and EDGE, a leading global advanced technology and defense conglomerate, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Dubai Airshow 2025.
The MoU was signed by Lieutenant General Nguyễn Đình Chiến, Deputy CEO of Viettel, and Mr. Omar Al Zaabi, Commercial Chairman of EDGE, witnessed by Senior Lieutenant General Hoàng Xuân Chiến, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Defense.
Under the agreement, Viettel will collaborate with the UAE’s leading conglomerate on advanced defense industry products and services. Both parties will also cooperate on dual-use and civilian products in areas such as 5G telecommunications infrastructure, telecom services and solutions, semiconductors, AI cameras, IoT devices, cybersecurity, logistics, e-commerce, and more.
Additionally, Viettel and EDGE will explore and establish an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) model in Vietnam for components, assemblies, and modules related to EDGE’s product lines, targeting the UAE and other export markets.
Viettel will partner with UAE’s leading conglomerate on advanced defense industry products and services.
Both parties will also research, exchange, and seek opportunities for technology transfer, technical training, and innovation in relevant product areas.
All collaborative efforts will be conducted with the approval of competent authorities and in compliance with the laws of each country and international regulations.
This strategic move marks Viettel’s advancement in exporting high-tech “Make in Vietnam” products and developing advanced defense and dual-use technologies.
