On November 19, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference to provide updates on the industry’s activities.
Boosting Consumer Demand
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Division at the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, announced that the total retail sales and consumer service revenue in the city reached VND 809 trillion in the first 10 months of 2025, a 14.5% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects a robust recovery in purchasing power and the effectiveness of market management strategies.
To achieve the 2025 economic targets, the Department of Industry and Trade emphasized the need to intensify consumer demand stimulation efforts with higher frequency until the end of the year. A particular focus will be on the peak shopping season during the Lunar New Year.

Notably, the “Shopping Season 2025” and “Green Tick Responsibility Month” campaigns will play a significant role. For “Shopping Season,” participating businesses can offer discounts of up to 100%.
“This is a substantial incentive, enabling businesses to provide genuine and transparent promotions while allowing consumers to access authentic products at the best prices,” said Mr. Hung.
The “Green Tick Responsibility Month,” running from December 1 to December 31, aims to prepare for the 2026 Tet holiday. The Department of Industry and Trade will collaborate with the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board to implement this initiative.
According to Mr. Hung, 12 retail systems will jointly promote and showcase green-tick products, offering in-store consultations. Additionally, authorities will encourage suppliers to prioritize safe, regional specialties, OCOP green products, and fresh produce.
The Department will also expand the green-tick model to include Tet gift baskets, catering to the 2026 Bính Ngọ Tet season. The goal is to boost sales, enhance brand recognition, and build consumer trust in certified products.
Promoting Modern Urban Advertising

Mr. Hung highlighted a new partnership with Focus Media Vietnam for both campaigns. The company will broadcast promotional content on public screens in buildings, shopping centers, supermarkets, and elevators.
Focus Media Vietnam’s representative stated that the company operates over 15,000 screens in key cities, ensuring daily exposure to millions. In December, 3,000 screens in Ho Chi Minh City buildings will run synchronized promotions, with an expected 700 million views.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, explained that Focus Media and the Ho Chi Minh City Advertising Association were chosen for their expertise in elevator advertising, both domestically and internationally. This collaboration aims to maximize reach and impact in modern urban media spaces.

The second phase of the Shopping Season, themed “Spring Shopping Spree” (November 15 to December 31), has seen widespread participation from shopping centers, supermarkets, and convenience store chains. Saigon Co.op offers up to 59% discounts on over 100 items, while Satra runs three promotions with discounts ranging from 15% to 100%. Payoo reports that 24 partners have launched promotions with a total budget of VND 17.3 billion, co-sponsored by card organizations and banks, promoting cashless payments. |
