On November 20th, the Global Electronics and Intelligent Manufacturing Show (GEIMS Vietnam 2025) officially opened at the I.C.E Hanoi International Exhibition Center, attracting over 200 exhibitors from Vietnam, China, Japan, South Korea, and other countries.

Mr. Wilson Wu, Vice President of Joint Venture and Special Projects Management at Global Sources, emphasized that Vietnam is entering a pivotal phase in the global supply chain transformation. The surge in demand for local manufacturing capabilities, coupled with the trend of supply source diversification, is fueling robust growth in Vietnam’s industrial sector.

According to Mr. Wu, the global electronics components and smart manufacturing industry is undergoing continuous fluctuations due to rising costs, logistical challenges, evolving technology standards, and intensified quality competition. Amid these shifts, Vietnam has emerged as a critical hub for global technology corporations.

Vietnam’s electronics exports are projected to reach $145 billion this year. Major corporations are reshaping their production structures in Southeast Asia, with Vietnam playing a central role. ASUS has relocated over 90% of its PC and motherboard production to the region, primarily to Vietnam. Apple continues to expand investments, while Samsung is restructuring its regional supply chain to optimize capacity and reduce reliance on traditional markets. These moves underscore Vietnam’s evolving strategic position in the global supply chain, both in scale and influence.

IMARC Group forecasts that Vietnam’s smart manufacturing market could grow from $116.8 billion in 2024 to over $303 billion by 2033. This leap represents a transformative opportunity for the industry in the era of automation, data, and artificial intelligence. Key growth drivers include the relocation of global corporate investments, robust government support policies, and Vietnamese enterprises’ efforts to enhance production capabilities.

The semiconductor industry, a cornerstone of electronics manufacturing, is experiencing rapid growth in Vietnam. The country is consistently attracting international partners in chip design, assembly, and testing, while cultivating a high-quality talent ecosystem. Expanded training programs and semiconductor R&D centers reflect Vietnam’s ambition to transition from a “manufacturing destination” to a “high-tech industrial hub” in the region.

Representatives from the Vietnam Electronic Industries Association (VEIA) highlighted that electronics is not merely a key FDI-attracting sector but also leverages Vietnam’s three major advantages: favorable policies, modern industrial infrastructure, and a young, dynamic workforce.

VEIA noted that Vietnam’s electronics industry is evolving beyond assembly and processing toward high-tech, smart manufacturing, and automation. This shift presents an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to enhance their capabilities, deepen global supply chain integration, and develop higher value-added products.
