Xiaomi has announced its Q3 business results and issued a warning about smartphone market price fluctuations for the upcoming year. The company attributes the rapid rise in global memory prices to the AI boom, which has significantly increased smartphone production costs.

The surge in AI infrastructure demand has led memory manufacturers like Samsung to prioritize data center markets over smartphones, where profit margins are higher. This shift has tightened supply, causing memory chip prices to soar and putting significant pressure on smartphone production costs.
Lu Weibing, Chairman of Xiaomi, predicts even tougher conditions next year. He stated, “I anticipate much greater pressure in the coming year. Overall, consumers may face significant price increases. While some of this pressure may be addressed through price hikes, increasing prices alone won’t be enough to solve the cost equation.”
This outlook suggests that the continuous rise in smartphone prices over recent years is unlikely to halt in 2026. If Xiaomi’s predictions come true, users will see another round of price increases across all smartphone segments.
