On November 21st, shoppers at Lotte Mart in Ho Chi Minh City were surprised to find durian products from Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group—founded and chaired by Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc (known as Bau Duc)—on the shelves. Previously, Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s durians were primarily exported to China, making them a rare treat for local consumers.

As the durian season in the Central Highlands—Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s growing region—has ended, only frozen whole durians and pre-packaged frozen durian pulp are available in limited quantities.

Additionally, Hoang Anh Gia Lai supplies two exclusive products to Lotte Mart: Daily highland bananas, highland banana bunches, and pork raised on a highland banana diet.

Both the bananas and durians are cultivated in the Bolaven Plateau, Laos, and Pleiku, Gia Lai, meeting GlobalGAP standards.

During the launch week from November 21st to 30th, Hoang Anh Gia Lai offers up to 50% off frozen bananas and durians.

“Expanding our product line at Lotte Mart marks a significant step in our distribution strategy, bringing sustainable, eco-friendly products to millions of Vietnamese households.

This also demonstrates Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s closed-loop circular production model: growing bananas, raising pigs on banana feed, and recycling byproducts for replanting—ensuring high quality, safety, and environmental friendliness,” said a Hoang Anh Gia Lai representative.

Currently, Hoang Anh Gia Lai cultivates 2,000 hectares of durian and plans to expand to 3,000 hectares by late 2027.

Bau Duc announced upcoming investments in a 20,000m² cold storage system for durian freezing and three processing plants in Laos and Vietnam.
