The Hanoi People’s Committee has recently provided an update in response to voter inquiries regarding the progress of the National Highway 6 upgrade project, specifically the Ba La – Xuan Mai section.
Previously, during various meetings, voters urged the city’s People’s Committee to expedite the Ba La – Xuan Mai National Highway 6 upgrade project. Additionally, despite the Mai Linh Bridge being announced for construction on May 19, 2025, work has yet to commence.
In response, the Hanoi People’s Committee stated that the Ba La – Xuan Mai section of the National Highway 6 upgrade project was approved on March 18, 2022, with adjustments approved on January 22, 2024. The project is scheduled for completion between 2022 and 2027, with the city’s Transportation Construction Project Management Board serving as the primary investor.
Currently, the investor is focused on executing construction activities within the handed-over land areas. This includes road foundation and surface expansion under packages 03 and 04, as well as key structures such as Dong Tru Bridge, Tan Truong Bridge, Xuan Mai Bridge beam casting, Quan Lat Bridge, and box culverts like Nam Lu. Additionally, work is underway on the Van Dai 4 intersection overpass.
For the Mai Linh Bridge (under package 02), the construction team is currently installing bored piles, casting girders, and forming templates.
Construction of Mai Linh Bridge includes bored pile installation, girder casting, and template formation.
The Hanoi People’s Committee attributes the delayed construction progress to challenges in land clearance. Specifically, in the former Chuong My district, approximately 51.46 hectares out of 85.4 hectares (60%) have been handed over. However, the cleared land, primarily agricultural and residential, is fragmented and obstructed by existing technical infrastructure and unmoved architectural structures.
In the former Ha Dong district, no land has been handed over yet. Currently, the investor is only working on a small portion of public land and the Van Dai 4 intersection.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has directed the People’s Committees of Yen Nghia, Chuong My, Phu Nghia, and Xuan Mai wards to accelerate land clearance efforts to ensure project completion by 2027.
