For over a week, all vehicles passing through the Liêm Sơn interchange have been rerouted onto the newly completed overpass (previously, they had to navigate a temporary road, causing significant congestion).
Previously, vehicles traversed the interchange at ground level (tier 1). Now, they seamlessly travel on the overpass (tier 2) without any intersections.

The Cầu Giẽ – Ninh Bình section of the North-South Expressway is currently the busiest route in Northern Vietnam, handling a high volume of traffic daily.
Upon completion, the road will seamlessly connect major historical sites and tourist attractions in Ninh Bình, including Tam Chúc, Đền Trần, and Bái Đính.
Following the opening of the overpass, contractors are now concentrating on constructing the connecting roads and completing the ground-level interchange.
Access ramps to the Liêm Sơn interchange from the expressway have been temporarily closed to ensure the safety of Phase 3 construction activities.
The Vietnam Road Administration has implemented a traffic diversion plan for the Liêm Sơn interchange. Vehicles traveling between Ninh Bình and Hanoi (and vice versa) now directly use the overpass. During construction, the maximum speed limit through the interchange is set at 60 – 80 km/h.
The Liêm Sơn interchange and connecting road system project has a total investment of 3.7 trillion VND. Construction began in 2023 and is scheduled for completion this year. After nearly two years of construction fencing on the expressway, the project has successfully completed the main interchange and opened the overpass. Contractors are now finalizing the connecting roads and ground-level interchange.
