During the third discussion session of the G20 Summit, themed “A Fair and Just Future for All,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed three strategic priorities for the world’s three major shifts.

At the summit, the Prime Minister joined global leaders in discussing emerging issues of strategic importance to national development, including strategic minerals, sustainable employment, and artificial intelligence.

There is a consensus that the demand for strategic minerals is increasing alongside the green and digital transitions. However, many developing nations have yet to reap fair benefits from their resources due to investment and technology gaps. Leaders agreed to implement the G20 Strategic Minerals Framework to enhance international cooperation and ensure a sustainable, transparent, secure, and stable supply chain.

The summit emphasized that high-quality, sustainable employment is a core goal of economic growth and should be central to industrial policies. Leaders pledged to promote policies for sustainable job creation, expand learning and vocational training opportunities for youth, especially marginalized groups, and aim to reduce the share of unemployed, out-of-school, and untrained youth aged 15–29 by 5% by 2030.

The Prime Minister praised South Africa’s choice of theme—”Strategic Minerals, Sustainable Employment, and Artificial Intelligence”—reflecting the global shifts: green transition, digital transition, and demographic-labor transition.

On AI governance, leaders agreed to prioritize human rights, transparency, fairness, accountability, ethics, privacy, and data management. They also highlighted the UN’s role in fostering international AI cooperation.

The summit welcomed the AI for Africa Initiative, strengthening G20-African Union collaboration on artificial intelligence.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended South Africa’s theme selection, which accurately reflects the three global shifts: green transition, digital transition, and demographic-labor transition.

He noted that the surge in science and technology, particularly AI, is reshaping production methods and global labor division, creating massive demand for energy and strategic minerals. This presents both opportunities and risks, requiring global efforts, especially G20 leadership, to prevent supply chain disruptions and governance gaps.

The Prime Minister discussed strategic issues with global leaders, focusing on strategic minerals, sustainable employment, and artificial intelligence.

To foster a fair, equitable, and just future globally, the Prime Minister outlined three strategic priorities:

First, establish fair, equitable, stable, and transparent strategic mineral partnerships, ensuring “shared benefits and risks.” This includes diversifying sustainable supply chains, developing high-tech processing industries, and promoting quality, sustainable jobs that meet environmental and social standards.

Second, revolutionize high-quality workforce development linked to modern, efficient, and sustainable labor markets. The Prime Minister urged G20 to support developing nations in accessing educational initiatives, reducing barriers, and fostering global labor market connectivity. He called for strategies, policies, and programs to train skilled youth and workers for rapid, sustainable development.

Third, build an AI ecosystem that serves humanity without replacing it. He proposed that G20 lead in creating fair, transparent, inclusive, safe, and human-centric AI governance standards. He also urged support for developing nations in building digital infrastructure, data systems, and AI technologies for safe, inclusive, and sustainable growth.

The Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to collaborate with G20 and the international community to implement these strategies through concrete, practical programs, contributing to global prosperity.

Guided by the principles of “listening, understanding, trusting, acting, and developing together,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to partnering with G20 and the global community. Vietnam aims to implement these strategies through specific, practical initiatives, fostering prosperity for all nations and their citizens.

The Prime Minister’s contributions were highly praised by the summit.

The summit adopted a joint declaration and transferred the G20 Presidency from South Africa to the United States.

Led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vietnam’s high-level delegation significantly contributed to the summit’s success, showcasing Vietnam as a dynamic, proactive nation committed to global peace, cooperation, and development.
